JENA P. JONES
I am Jena P. Jones, Digital Services Manager at Kenan Research Center at the Atlanta History Center. Kenan Research Center preserves extensive primary source holdings for the study of Atlanta and the surrounding region, including a special collection for Southeastern horticultural history. As Digital Services Manager, I manage the licensing and use of images from our repository and provide quality image reproductions from our digitized and original collection materials for staff and external customers. I support staff in developing exhibitions, web-based content, publications and other needs. I service external customers by providing photographs, audio, and video recordings available in our non-digitized collections and our online resource, Album, a database of over 25,000 digital assets from 119 archival collections and publications. Album represents a portion of the 60,000+photographs, audio, and video recordings and consists mostly of photographs of people, places, and events in Atlanta and the state of Georgia from 1863 to 1998.
My work in photography, however, does not stop there. Outside of the Atlanta History Center, most people know me through my corporate event and travel photography work under the name the funy farm photographic services (f2photos for short). This realm of my work has taken me on projects and assignments across the U.S. and internationally to Belize, Brazil, the Dominican Republic and Ghana West Africa. My client list includes: GlobalHue, United Healthcare, Fulton County, National Bar Association, Wal-Mart, IWFL (Independent Womenʼs Football League), National CASA (Court Appointed SpecialAdvocate Association), Tavis Smiley Presents, The NAMES Project Foundation and the Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH) Program in Fulton County (Atlanta), Georgia.
Within the photography community, I’ve served as Executive Director of Sistagraphy (an Atlanta-based collective of Black women photographers) and President of Zone III Photographic Workshop. My work can be found in private collections and various publications. Simply stated, my intention is to create quality images that tell a compelling story with “Dignity, Honor & Grace.”
Whew! So that’s the professional stuff, but who is Jena??? I’m a chick who is continually learning and growing within this industry. Beyond that, I’m just a motorcycle riding, tropical beach loving, pet-friendly, nature seeking, travel lovinʼ, funny, easy-going creative who works very hard and plays well with others. Yeah... I’m THAT chick. Not bad for a kid coming out of Atlanta Public Schools!
